Archiving and tidying up
Tidy up completed tasks
Section titled “Tidy up completed tasks”Bulk tidy-up removes completed tasks older than a number of days you choose, so a long-running list does not accumulate hundreds of ticked-off items.
Choose the age rather than clearing everything. Keeping the last week or two means you can still see what you finished recently, which is useful for a weekly review and for remembering whether you actually did something.
There is also a Siri shortcut for tidying a list on iOS. See Siri and Shortcuts.
Archiving a list
Section titled “Archiving a list”Archiving takes a whole list out of your sidebar without deleting it. Use it for finished projects and anything seasonal.
Archived lists live in their own section, and can be restored back to the sidebar or deleted permanently from there.
Archive rather than delete
Section titled “Archive rather than delete”Archiving is reversible; deleting is not. Unless you are certain, archive.
Archived lists still count towards your storage if they hold attachments, so if you are archiving to free up space, that will not do it. Delete the attachments, or the list, instead.
