Notifications
Settings → Notifications controls what Marvelist notifies you about. Each is a separate switch, so you can keep the ones that matter without taking all of them.
| Notify me when | Useful because |
|---|---|
| A list is shared with me | You would otherwise not know it had arrived |
| A shared task is assigned to me | Someone has given you something to do |
| A new entry has been added to a shared list | Keeps you current on an active shared list |
| Someone comments on a task | Comments are conversations, and conversations expect replies |
Every one of these is about shared lists. Nothing here notifies you about your own tasks on your own lists.
Which to keep on
Section titled “Which to keep on”Assignment and comments are the two worth keeping. Both mean somebody is waiting on you, which is exactly the case a notification is for.
“A new entry has been added to a shared list” is the one to turn off first. On an active list it fires constantly and stops meaning anything, which then trains you to ignore the other three.
Due dates and reminders
Section titled “Due dates and reminders”Those are separate from this screen. A task notifies you based on its own due date; see Tasks.
Focus also notifies you at the end of every block, focus and break alike, so you can put the phone down while a block runs.
The notification feed
Section titled “The notification feed”The bell at the top of the app holds the same notifications as a list, so something dismissed on the Lock Screen is not lost. Siri can read it back with the Notification Feed shortcut. See Siri and Shortcuts.
If nothing is arriving
Section titled “If nothing is arriving”Check iOS Settings first: Marvelist needs notification permission at the system level before any of these switches do anything. After that, see Troubleshooting.
